(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Unofficial results from Stewartville show the community has passed the district's nearly 25 million dollar bond referendum.

School leaders tell ABC 6 the bond passed by 62% of the vote.

The money will be used to add another elementary school for 3rd through 5th graders. The hope is to build the new school large enough to accommodate more grades in the future if need be.

The money would also go toward upgrades in the current schools, such as security and bathrooms updates.
