(ABC 6 News) - Dodge County Sheriff Jim Jensen has announced he plan to run for a second term.
In a news release sent to the media, Jensen outlined his accomplishments including... 35 years in law enforcement and starting the D.A.R.E. program in all three Dodge County school districts. He also claims to have saved Dodge County more than $1,000,000 in budget costs over the last three years.
As we've reported, Sheriff Jensen came under intense scrutiny after he fired long time Chief Deputy Mike Leonhardt. (http://bit.ly/1mNbZwv). Leonhardt had been with the Dodge County Sheriff's office for 26 years. Jenson said the position was an "at will" position and that he let Leonhardt go for "not be loyal".
For the moment, Jensen is facing just one other candidate. Dodge County Investigator Scott Rose announced his plans to run for Dodge County Sheriff back in February (http://bit.ly/1qPagLf).
