(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Despite a last ditch effort, the Shopko project in Kasson will move forward. Demolition of the homes that were bought out starts Thursday.
People who opposed the project sent a petition to the Environmental Quality Board, asking the city fill out an environmental assessment worksheet.
The city had already followed those measures with the state.
At Wednesday's council meeting it was declared it wasn't necessary to do that again.
"I think the city has done a fantastic job in making sure that all of those situation have all been dealt with.Tthey've all been answered. We're still going to have people that are angry with the project, that don't like it, but we're moving forward with it," said Randy Lenth, Kasson city administrator.
