(ABC 6 News) -- A new DFL candidate has emerged in the race for the Minnesota House.

Richard Wright announced his bid for District 26B, currently served by Republican Mike Benson.

Wright is a military veteran and attorney in Rochester.  He says he grew up in this area and is excited to see the potential economic growth.

"With the DMC program coming to Rochester, we have a fantastic opportunity with the right leadership to make sure that all of us benefit from that, from the people who are going to build the structures to the people who are going to be working in the structures," Wright said.

Wright is also a big proponent of education.  He says being a school board member allows him to see and hear what's important for families and students.
