(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Controversy in Winona County has ended with the termination of the county administrator.
It started in January of 2013 when the county started exploring adding solar to some of its buildings.
The issue is over a conflict of interest.
During the course of 2013, Mr. Hebert's wife started working for the company that was bringing the solar project to the county.
Eventually, she became part owner of that company.
An independent investigation concluded that there were numerous times during the last year or so where county administrator Hebert could have disclosed his wife's relationship with the solar project -- but didn't.
That brings us to Tuesday's meeting, where the county board terminated Hebert's contract.
Hebert declined ABC 6 News' request for an on camera interview, however he issued a statement on the matter. He says he's disappointed by the boards action calling it unlawful -- and maintains he was never given the opportunity to defend himself.
Hebert does indicate there may be legal action taken.
