(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Rochester Public Utilities says it's safe to stop running water to prevent frozen pipes. Officials say frost levels are now at a safe level.

Over the winter, almost 2,000 residents reported to RPU that they were running a pencil-width stream of water to prevent frozen pipes.

RPU Spokesperson Tony Benson reminds residents to closely monitor their water next winter.
