(ABC 6 News) --  Pouring rain hardly dampened the spirits of 700 runners this morning. All the runners know someone with ovarian cancer or have it themselves.

They're also all women. Statewide, more than 1,500 women raced against ovarian cancer for this year's Unleash the She. Female runners and walkers chose between 5K or 10K courses starting at Jefferson Elementary School and through Silver Lake Park in Rochester.

Even kids ran to honor a woman that they knew with ovarian cancer.

Kathleen Gavin, event executive director tell us, "I think it's a really healing thing for people who've lost somebody to be able to come out and do this to support each other and raise money for research."
