(ABC 6 News) -- A United South Central honor student will be expelled from school for the rest of the 2014 school year following a hearing Thursday evening in Wells.

It took two hours for people to plead their cases, including Alyssa, in front of the school board Thursday.  After the board deliberated for an hour and half, they unanimously voted to expel Alyssa Drescher.

As we reported, earlier this week students and community members rallied in support of the high school junior who admittedly violated the district's weapons policy after a pocket knife was found in her locker.
“We have a fairly stringent weapons policy," said USC District Superintendent Dr. Jerry Jensen.
“Our policy states there will be disciplinary action if there are weapons found in possession of a student," Superintendent Dr. Jerry Jensen said.

Following the ruling, Alyssa's parents were too upset to speak with ABC 6, but the parents tells us are going to fight the ruling.

Stay with ABC 6 as we continue to follow this developing story.
