(ABC 6 NEWS) -- A young boy went before the Stewartville City Council Tuesday night with an interesting request. He wants chickens.

10-year-old Cooper Reed presented a proposal on why chickens should be allowed within city limits. And he did his research. He even created a poster board with facts about chickens and the benefits of allowing them.

We asked cooper how this all started. Cooper says, "One day we find this chicken class and we went to it and then I found out we couldn't have chickens. It sort of broke my heart, so I wanted to make them come into Stewartville."

The Council didn't take any action on the proposal, but it is being considered.

Cooper says he just hopes council members will support him, and see the good in chickens that he does.
