(ABC 6 News) - For the first time, the 4th annual Taste of Mower County completely sold out a few weeks before the event. The event is open to the public every year for a taste from local chefs.
Several restaurants in Mower County served up their best dishes at the Austin Holiday Inn. There were a total of 10 chefs. Six worked in restaurants. The other four are considered home chefs.
Besides the good food, The Taste of Mower County also raises awareness for people with developmental disabilities.
"We help with advocacy, with housing and employment," said event organizer Kathy Huffman. "We want to get them out into the community, we want them active and them to be accepted by the community, so it's very important to raise awareness."
As far as next year's event is concerned, Huffman says they plan to bring in more chefs next year
