(KSTP) -- A Hopkins woman has been identified as one of two people killed after a speeding car crashed into the back of a semi on eastbound I-694 in Fridley Friday night.

The rear-end crash was reported around 8:15 p.m. on the interstate at Matterhorn Drive.

According to the state patrol, the driver of the 2007 Chrysler 300 and Patrice Hooks, 31, of Hopkins, a passenger, were both killed in the crash. Hooks was wearing a seat belt and her airbag did deploy.

A 1-year-old, who was also a passenger in the Chrysler, suffered a non-life threatening injury, the state patrol reported.

The driver of the semi, Steven Pothen, 68, of Wadena, had no apparent injuries, the state patrol reported.

The eastbound lanes of 694 were temporarily shut down starting at Central Avenue so officials could investigate. All traffic was diverted to MN-65/Central Avenue.

No further information has been released.

The Fridley Police Department and Anoka County Sheriff's Office are assisting the Minnesota State Patrol in the investigation.
