(ABC 6 News) – Rochester Police are still looking for a woman and a child after they took off during a scuffle between a man and a police officer.

Police received a report of a child alone in a hotel room at the Value Inn on Commercial Drive SW in Rochester. When police arrived, the child was with a man and woman. The man was later identified as Jordan Schwartz. Police say the two claimed to have left the room for a moment to “go have a smoke.”

However, the officer smelled what he believed to be marijuana in the hotel room and began to question them. That’s when the two tried to leave with the child. We’re told the officer had to physically hold both of them back.

But that’s when Schwartz allegedly pushed the woman and child into the hallway and threw something out of his pocket at them. He then shut the door, leaving just him and the officer in the room. The officer was able to pin him to the ground before another officer arrived.

Police discovered three jars of marijuana in the room but still have not identified what Schwartz allegedly threw to the woman in the hallway. The woman and child, which is likely under the age of 5, still have not been located. Schwartz was charged with multiple offenses, including assaulting an officer and drug possession.
