(ABC 6 News) -- MnDOT is making sure people are taking safety precautions on the road. It's most recent advice targeting prom goers. MnDOT says many teens will be renting limos and party buses. It’s reminding them that cheaper isn't always safer. Officials say companies could not only end up showing up late, but could end up breaking down.
"If you're going to put some young people in a vehicle, you want to make sure that it's operated well and like we said there are a lot of good, honorable, very reputable operators, so you just want to make sure you know what you're getting for your money,” said Mike Dougherty, MnDOT.
MnDOT says all commercial carriers should be licensed with the state. You can ask for inspection reports and other safety documents. You should also ask for a signed service contact so you don't get ripped off.
