(ABC 6 News) -- The Click-It or Ticket Campaign has come to an end. State troopers gave out more than 500 tickets in Southeast Minnesota alone for people who didn't buckle up.
Today was the last day for that campaign.
The goal was to increase enforcement, and raise awareness on the dangers of not wearing a seat belt.
With spring weather on its way, officials also stress that accidents are more severe when it's warm than during the winter.
"However the speeds aren't as high when these crashes occur. When you get into the spring and the weather warms up and people get out and about again, speeds start increasing and therefore the crashes become more serious.", that's according to State Trooper Thomas Wright.
State patrol officers say typically half of the fatalities that involve people who were ejected were not wearing their seatbelt.
