(ABC 6 News) -- The Dodge County Ice Arena is home of the Wildcats' Hockey team, and is open for public skating, and youth hockey organizations. However, the future of that rink is now in question, as negotiations are in place about who will own it.
Right now, the Dodge County Ice Arena is a collaboration between Dodge County, and the City of Kasson. But that partnership could soon change as Dodge County is saying, they want out.
In a closed meeting Tuesday morning, the Dodge County Board of Commissioners were talking about a possible offer to make to the City of Kasson.
If Kasson took that offer, the city would take control of the ice arena.
According to the Dodge County Administrator, Jim Elmquist, the county is doing this because they have decided to get out of the ice arena business. He said it doesn't fit the mission of the county, and could use that money for other things.
I also spoke with the City Administrator of Kasson. He says at this point it's too early to tell what kind of offer they might be getting from Dodge County and won't comment further until he knows more.
