(ABC 6 News) – An employee at the Waste to Energy Facility in Rochester is OK after falling into a multi-story boiler that was under maintenance.
The Rochester Fire Department got a call at around 1:30pm Wednesday that a man had fallen several feet into a boiler. They were able to get him on a backboard and lift him out hand-in-hand. They then lowered him down to the ground in a basket stretcher.
It took fire crews less than an hour to get him out safely, which we’re told is very quick for setting up a “rigging” system. The man was taken by Gold Cross for back injuries and tingling in his extremities.
