(ABC 6 NEWS) -- The Owatonna Police Department has released the names and we now know the conditions of the five people hurt when their car was hit by a train in Owatonna.
The driver was 30-year-old Michael Sirek of Faribault. Passengers were 20-year-old Ariana Hagel of Faribault, 24-year-old Thurman Dewberry of Faribault, 20-year-old Tessa Watkins of Kenyon, and 23-year-old Justin Steinberg of Faribault.
All five victims were taken to Mayo Clinic in Rochester. As of 8:00 Thursday night, Dewberry and Steinberg remain in serious condition. Sirek and Watkins are in fair condition. Hagel has been treated and released.
The crash happened shortly before 11 P.M. Wednesday at tracks crossing State Avenue just south of Hoffman Drive in Owatonna.
Police believe the driver, Michael Sirek, disregarded the flashing railroad crossing signal lights, and that's when the car was hit by the train. No crossing arms are at this specific junction.
The crash remains under investigation by the Owatonna Police Department and Canadian Pacific Railroad Police.
