A request by Dodge County Sheriff Jim Jensen for additional law enforcement help got turned down Tuesday.

The Dodge County Board of Commissioners declined the proposal by a 3-2 vote at the meeting this morning.

The board decided to keep those 3 part time deputies on staff in that same capacity, but would not agree to promotions to full time status.

In a report aired January 14 on ABC 6 News Sheriff Jensen said it's time consuming and expensive to replace deputies and that his department had recently lost 2 part time deputies to work full time with other counties.

Jensen said replacing those part timers takes about 31 weeks and $30,000.
