(ABC 6 News) - State employees throughout Minnesota, are being asked to share some of their vacation time to help one of their own.

Dennis Kinsley has worked for MnDOT for 29 years and is currently a heavy equipment mechanic at the MnDOT office in Rochester. In October of last year, he was diagnosed with colon cancer and bilateral liver metastases. In January, he had colon surgery and will soon resume 4 to 5 months of chemo followed by liver surgery.

He will exhaust all of his vacation and sick time fighting for his life, but MnDOT officials say Dennis has been approved for the State Employee Vacation Donation Program.
