Hundreds Sheltered Overnight in Emergency Shelters

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- More than 200 people used emergency shelters across the state following the severe snowstorm Thursday.

State safety officials report 13 shelters were opened in 6 counties, and a total of 252 people spent the night at those shelters.

Below is a breakdown of exactly how many people were helped, and where.

Steele County

  • Owatonna National Guard Armory – 6 people sheltered

Renville County

  • Five shelters opened in the county including the Olivia National Guard Armory – a total of 134 people sheltered in the county

Freeborn County

  • Albert Lea National Guard Armory – 4 people sheltered

Le Sueur County

  • Le Center Emergency Operations Center – 3 people sheltered
  • Cleveland Fire Hall – 10 people sheltered

Blue Earth County

  • Lake Crystal, Crystal Seasons Community facility – 20 people sheltered
  • Lake Crystal Fire Hall – 3 people sheltered

Cottonwood County

  • Business Arts and Recreation Center (Windom) – 71 people sheltered
  • Mountain Lake Community Center – 1 person sheltered
