(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Authorities in Wyoming say a north Iowa man was killed in a snowmobiling accident on Tuesday.

The Teton County Sheriff's office says Tyler Tourtellott, 27, of Osage, was involved in an avalanche on Togwotee Pass a little after 2pm local time.

He was with three friends from Osage when his sled became stuck on a hillside.  As a friend was approaching to help, a snow slide pushed Tourtellott down the hill and into a tree, he was then buried.

After a search and rescue effort, Tourtellott was found, and emergency crews performed CPR and other life saving efforts for a half hour.  He was then pronounced dead on the scene.
