(KSTP) - A woman could face federal charges after becoming disruptive on a plane and forcing it to land at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Friday night.

ABC affiliate WMAR in Baltimore says the Delta flight left from Baltimore around 5:50 p.m. and was enroute to Salt Lake City when it was diverted to MSP due to the rowdy passenger.

According to Patrick Hogan, spokesman for the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport, at some point during the flight an intoxicated female passenger began yelling and grabbing other passengers. Hogan said the pilot diverted the flight from its original destination to Minneapolis after the commotion began.

The flight crew was able to restrain the woman with handcuffs. When the flight touched down at 8 p.m. in Minnesota, the unidentified woman was met by airport police and escorted off the plane.

She was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center for evaluation.

According to Hogan, MSP will not press charges. However, the woman could face federal charges from the TSA or the FBI.
