(ABC 6 News) -- The annual Winterfest celebration is going on right now in Rochester, and one of the biggest events kicks off Tuesday.

Ice Carvers have been busy on Peace Plaza downtown preparing for SocialICE.  Twelve thousand pounds of ice will be used.  That will help make sculptures and seven themed ice bars.

"It really is a whole week process and everything is hand carved so I mean it's not that we can just bring out pieces that are molded we bring our tools and chainsaws and our clients and our chisels and we really chisel away at them," Ice chiseler Maurice Pearson said.
SocialICE runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m.  And Friday night, we'll be doing our 6 p.m. newscast live from the event so make sure you come say hi.
