Man Who Abandoned Disabled Car Died of Hypothermia

GLENCOE, Minn. (AP) - A medical examiner has determined a man found dead in McLeod County after walking away from his disabled car died of exposure.

Fifty-five-year-old Garry Kontz, of Stewart, got stuck in the snow Sunday night during blizzard conditions. Sheriff's deputies and firefighters found his body on Monday about two miles from his vehicle along a rural road south of Stewart.

The Star Tribune ( ) reports the McLeod County Sheriff's Department has been notified that a medical examiner determined Kontz was a victim of hypothermia.
