(ABC 6 NEWS) -- An Austin man convicted in a brutal attack, has lost an appeal on his conviction and sentence.

Monday the Minnesota court of appeals denied the requests by Galuak Rotgai.

On April 8, 2012, a 39-year-old man went to the City Limits apartments in Austin, looking to get a DVD of his returned from Rotgai. Police say that's when an argument, and assault took place.

Rotgai was found guilty of attempted second-degree intentional murder for beating the man with a baseball bat so severely, that the victim will live the rest of his life in a nursing home.

After the jury found Rotgai guilty, he was sentenced to 20 years.

Rotgai appealed on claims on insufficient evidence.
