(ABC 6 News) -- For the first time ever, the Minnesota Department of Health is releasing data on how often high schoolers are hitting the tanning beds.
Despite health risks, nearly 35% of 11 grade white females reported they have tanned indoors in the last year and more than half of them tanned more than 10 times.
Doctors we spoke with Tuesday say they are seeing more cases of melanoma at every age. "There's been over a 700% increase in melanoma in women less than 40 and in women over 40 there's over a 2000% percent increase in melanoma," said Dr. Jerry Brewer at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Brewer also tells us that just going tanning once increases your risk of melanoma by 25%, going on a regular bases increases it to 75%.
