(ABC 6 NEWS) -- What can $13.7 million buy you in Rochester? Apparently two hotels. The Fiksdal Hotel and the adjacent Aspen Suites are in new hands. They have been purchased by U.S. Hotel and Resort Management Inc., a subsidiary of Ramkota Cos. Inc., based in Sioux Falls, SD.

General Manager Laurel Schacht says both hotels will see some changes, especially the Fiksdal.

"We'll be doing a lot of things with ADA accessibility at that hotel as well, putting in several roll in showers and upgrading everything in the hotel, rooms, lobby and exterior,” said Schacht. "We're looking to improve upon the image that it's had, update the hotel, bring it into current times."

Both hotels have high occupancy due to their prime location. They are both across the street from Mayo Clinic Hospital's Saint Marys Campus.

"Saint Marys is predominantly for surgical procedures so a lot of our guests tend to be extended stays so they're here for weeks, sometimes months at a time," said Schacht.

Schacht says in addition to the renovations, people will now be able to reserve rooms at the Fiksdal online.

All of the staff at both hotels is going to be retained. The new renovations will not include the addition of any rooms.
