A long time city leader has announced he will step down. John Wade has been the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce president for ten years.
It was a hard decision for the now former chamber of commerce president.
"We've had an unbelievable past ten years," said John Wade.
Wade has decided to leave the chamber for a position as general manager at Clements Chevrolet.
"As we grow and go forward it is an exciting time to be in business, I'm very pleased to join the ranks of our members," said Wade.
As he leaves, he is proud of the growth and progress the chamber has made during his time as president.
"The c-tech initiative, the stem initiative for students, helping develop the Rochester Downtown Alliance," said Wade.
He will be missed by the many members.
"I couldn't imagine who could do a superior job, it's certainly going to be tough to find a successor," said chamber chair Brent Buchan.
Buchan says it's an exciting time for the chamber and he knows Wade won't be completely out of the mix.
"The economy is extremely healthy so we have a very positive outlook for the future and I'm excited that he's staying in the community," said Buchan.
It will definitely be hard  for Wade to leave.
"What do we all miss most when we have to leave, the people, the work has been incredibly rewarding, but its the people in the private sector and the great public sector partnerships as well," said Wade.
Wade plans to stay with the chamber through the end of the month while they search for a replacement.
