(ABC 6 News) In lieu of cash, one person dropped a diamond necklace into a Salvation Army Red Kettle Saturday morning.

With the neckace was a note that read "I have no money to give, but I hope you can take this necklace, sell it, and use the money. It is a real diamond. Though it is not large, it's real"

Also on Saturday, "Triple Match in Olmsted County" effort produced one kettle with $3,400 in donations in just a few hours.

On any other day, that same kettle would have brought in between $500 and $800 in the same time frame.
