Austin Truck Stop Set to Close

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- It has been in business for years, but the days may be numbered for the truck stop in Austin.Watts Cooking and the Pilot Travel Center along Interstate 90 in Austin will close for good at 11:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

Owner Kermit Watts tells ABC 6 News economics played a role in the decision, including 200-thousand dollars in improvements required by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and the impact of road construction.

The potential closing may not be permanent. Watts says there is a potential buyer for the business. It currently employs 45 people.
