(ABC 6 News) -- Lindy Lange is the creator of ROCHESTERfamilies.com. The website is to help people in Southeast Minnesota find fun and resources nearby.

"We all know what it's like to be new to a community," said Lange.

Lindy and her family were new to Rochester too at one point. They moved from a small town near Grand Rapids, Michigan 14 years ago. She wanted to find things to do with her kids.

"It took us a while to fit in and figure things out about the community," said Lange.

Lindy wants to make the transition easier on others.

"I created a list of things that we thought were fun and useful in the community and from there the website developed," said Lange.

The site has grown a lot in the 10 years it's been around. It’s grown from a short list to now having more than 200 events per month listed.

"As I heard from parents, and local organizations and local businesses, they thought it had real value and it's just grown in size and scope," said Lange.

Lindy says anything youth or family oriented can go on the website. She's trying to grow it to reach an even bigger audience.

"Get more info on some of those packets in the community who might be underrepresented or under heard," said Lange.

Lindy describes the site as a great starting point to link new families to great schools, activities or anything else the community has to offer.

"What might be important to one family, and what might not be important to another, but we need to get all that information in one spot so every family has access to it," said Lange.
