Crow Problem Returns to Downtown Rochester
(ABC 6 NEWS) -- "It’s getting worse and worse every year," said St. John’s organist Sebastian Modarelli.
"It’s horrible! It's just I have no words man this is terrible."
Every one of his eight years at the church, Modarelli has dealt with excessive crow droppings in the parking lot.
"I have an unlimited wash service for my car because I mean every night when I'm parking here my car is like full, it's like snow but it's not snow," said Modarelli.
"They’re annoying!" said Bev Marek, who was baptized at St. John’s. "I don't know what they can do. I suppose they could kill em but that might not be good."
City council has had problems coming up with permanent solutions.
"I think in the long run we're probably just gonna have to just have some services available to deal with the messes as it comes forward and try to move them on as well, but ultimately as long as there's a concentration of light and warmth in the downtown cities, the crows are gonna find it," said Councilman Mike Wojcik.
"They roost in every tree, every branch and the sidewalk is completely covered every morning with their residue," said St. John’s Facilities Manager Mike Gehring.
"People need to walk through this I mean it's a shame we have concerts and things and people coming from all over the city that say you have a crows problem here it’s horrible," said Modarelli. "If we could record the smell on a rainy day like today, with the camera and people could smell it through the TV, smellivision, it would be horrible!”
