Mayo Clinic Opens Health Care Center for Executives
(ABC 6 News) -- Mayo Clinic unveiled their first ever Executive Health Center. A place for business executives and corporations to get medical care.
Mayo's actually had their Executive Heath Program for 30 years, but this is intended to bring everything to one spot for executives who are on the go. ABC 6 News was at their grand opening of the center, located on the 5th floor of the Mayo Building. After the ribbon cutting event, we were the only TV News station to get the full tour of the new place that day.
Mayo officials say this center was needed so executives who come to Mayo can be seen sooner, get lab work done, checkups, and still have the privacy to get their work done.
The man who helped fund it, William Hall Wendell Jr., is the former CEO of Polaris. He donated $10 million for the center, we asked him why. "My second field of interest is executive heath since I have been getting my physicals done here since 1981, so I saw a need that needed to be satisfied,” he said.
We're told by Mayo employees that you do have to qualify to be in the Executive Health Program.
