Trial Postponed for Iowa Man in Toddler's Death

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - Trial has been postponed for a man charged in the 1994 killing of a toddler who disappeared from his bed in Mason City.

Michael Cisneros had been scheduled to go on trial on first-degree murder charge on Oct. 22. Cisneros waived his right to a speedy trial. The trial will be rescheduled to a later date.

Cisneros is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Cisneros is accused of killing 20-month-old John Joseph Snyder Jr. His father reported him missing on July 20, 1994. The little boy's body was found a day later, snagged on a tree in nearby Willow Creek.

Authorities say they've matched Cisneros' DNA to a sample taken from the toddler's pajama bottoms.
