Fund Established for Orrie Jirele Scholarship
(ABC 6 NEWS) -- A fund has been established to help form a scholarship in memory of a well-known coach and educator.
73-year-old Orrie Jirele died Saturday. Jirele graduated from Pacelli High School where he was a star basketball player. He also taught and coached at Pacelli, coached at Lourdes High School in Rochester, and worked as a counselor and coach in Albert Lea.
People wishing to contribute to the scholarship fund can make checks payable to: The Orrie Jirele Scholarship Fund. Donations can be dropped off at Wells Fargo Bank in Albert Lea or mailed to the bank at 122 East Main Street in Albert Lea, MN 56007 attn: Katie Johnson.
Funeral services for Jirele will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Private Interment will be in St Theodore Catholic Cemetery.
