Rochester Mayor Vetoes Fifth on Fifth Apartments
The controversial ‘Fifth on Fifth’ apartment development in Rochester has been vetoed by Mayor Ardell Brede.
In a statement released today, the mayor said the project “would constitute a substantial addition to the block resulting in a significant change to the character of the surrounding neighborhood.”
The project was approved by the Rochester City Council, despite objections from area residents who said it would ruin the neighborhood.
Developers planned to construct the 39-unit, four- story building at the intersection of Fifth Street and Fifth Avenue Southwest in Rochester.
