Woman Arrested in Rochester for Chicago Homicide
(ABC 6 NEWS) -- A murder suspect is in custody after police discover her hiding out in Rochester. Officers were called to a home on the 100 block of 8th Avenue S.E. Tuesday night for a disturbance.
"When officers arrived and they began investigating, the parties involved were uncooperative," said Captain Sherwin.
Captain Sherwin of the Rochester Police Department says one of the individuals gave officers a false name. They were quickly able to determine who she was and what she was connected too.
"When he ran her name through our warrant system we discovered she was wanted on homicide charges in Chicago," said Captain Sherwin.
Kahlila Southall was arrested in connection to a shooting back on August 26th at a Chicago gas station. She allegedly got into a fight with another woman and eventually shot her in the stomach killing her.
Southall is now custody in Olmsted County Jail.
"Investigators from Chicago came up to Rochester Wednesday and interviewed the suspect," said Captain Sherwin.
There is no word on when or how she came to be in Rochester. Captain Sherwin says the arrest was made through good police work.
"You know Rochester is a big enough city now where people will come to hide out here, and it's not the first time or last time I'm sure, but anytime where your patrol can get someone who is potentially dangerous off the streets, it's good day," said Captain Sherwin.
No charges have been filed against Southall yet. She will remain in custody in Olmsted County until a transfer can be arraigned.
