(ABC 6 News) -- A local college is credited with contributing millions of dollars and thousands of jobs to the regional economy.

The announcement was made Tuesday saying Rochester Community Technical College contributed $165 million and 2,047 jobs to the local government.

The study, conducted by Wilder Research, says RCTC also generated $10 million in tax revenues for the state and local economy.

Retiring RCTC President Don Supalla echoed this, saying not only is the success of a student a focus for them, but its vital to support the regional economy as well.

On a statewide level, the study shows Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU) in all generated an annual economic impact of $8.3 billion and 80,856 thousand jobs for the state.

The study did not measure the economic impact of University Center Rochester (UCR) including the UCR Regional Sports Center or Rochester Regional Stadium.
