Last March, Much Warmer Than This!

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Many are still out shoveling after another dumping of snow. Some places, getting as much as a foot. Monday we looked back at how different things were at this time last year.

Just when we thought we were nearing the end, there was another storm overnight and it brought more than just a dusting. “It's very heavy," said Rochester resident Collen Mitchell.

Typically in Minnesota we expect things like this, but after being spoiled with last year's early spring... "I want it to hurry up," said Rochester resident Anthony Donovan.

"Last year was extremely warm already. I think we had three 60 degree days already and temps were getting warmer as the week went on," said manager of Whistle Binkies Craig Kangas.

To paint a picture, the porch at Whistle Binkies on the Lake was packed, especially on St. Patty's Day where the high was 81 degrees! "We just knew the patio was going to be rocking," said Kangas.

This year, some accommodations might be needed. “We are going to put the tent up. It'll be up by the end of the week and we'll utilize that this weekend and we can heat the tent," said Kangas.

Though they still expect a good crowd, they’re excited for all of this snow to go away. "We'll make the best of it and once the weather breaks we'll certainly have our patio open and ready to go," said Kangas.

Another fun fact, we had no measurable snow last year in the month of March.
