Murder Trial in Mason City Strangulation Delayed

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - An April 1 trial date has been delayed for a 36-year-old Mason City man accused of strangling a woman in a Mason City apartment.

Aaron Harris has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he killed 40-year-old Sarah Winters in July last year. The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that Harris has waived his right to a speedy trial. He's charged with first-degree murder.

Harris is scheduled to be examined on Thursday by a forensic psychiatrist who's been appointed as an expert witness.

A new trial date has not been set.
