Stewartville Residents Vote in Favor of New Fire Station

(ABC 6 News) -- Residents in Stewartville have voted in favor of a new fire station. 557 votes for the new station with 120 against it.

City council still has to approve the final number at the next council meeting, then they can move forward with the project.

The current facility is not structurally sound, and city leaders say it would be more cost effective to build a new one, instead of trying to renovate.

The referendum would provide up to 1.8 million dollars of funding for the new station.
