"Awesome Blossoms" Don't Advance in Mascot Competition

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms came up short in votes to advance to the next round in the USA Today school mascot competition.

The Blossoms were one of five Minnesota school mascots hoping to move on. Blooming Prairie received the second highest number of votes with nearly 46 percent. The Winona Winhawks came in first with 48 percent. The deadline was 2:00 Tuesday afternoon.

The competition started with 255 schools nationwide. 51 now remain. The top six will be considered winners, with the school with the number one best mascot getting $2,000.
