Email to a FriendDiversifying Economy is Answer to Growth of Rochester
(ABC 6 News) -- Diversifying Rochester's economy was the message at Thursday Rochester Area Economic Development Incorporated (RAEDI) luncheon.
RAEDI says this community has shown growth in employment, home sales and businesses within the last five years.
Mayo Clinic Ventures says working with RAEDI will also benefit Rochester's ever growing destination medical community.
"From our perspective we think this area has a great critical mass of people, we'd love to see a more diversified economy," says Jim Rogers, Chair of Mayo Clinic Ventures.
Mayo Clinic Ventures works closely with Mayo physicians and scientists to mine inventions, ideas and discoveries that transform health care.
"It's one area we really haven't focused on in the past, but we're focused on it now," he says.
You may remember, the extension of the Rochester City Sales tax this November provided $10 million toward economic development for the city and the surrounding communities.
