Public Input Meeting on Mayo’s DMC Project

(ABC 6 News) -- People in Rochester had a chance to give their opinions on Mayo Clinic’s Destination Medical Center project at a public meeting Wednesday.

For the most part, people agree with the project and just came for more clarity on how it will be done, but there were a few that came with some tough questions.

Mayo Representatives, the Chamber President, and others on the panel first outlined the proposed project and how it will be funded. Which was one of the concerns brought up by community members at the meeting. Another concern, was that the project will done without much community input.

"I don't want it to be something that people object to after they're formulated. I want to develop a community consensus around it in the development of the plans as well as the final adoption of the plan," said Rochester resident Barry Skolnick.

Mayo Representatives say it's a project that'll affect the whole state, so not every public meeting will be held in Rochester, but say they will keep the community informed every step of the way.
