Iowan to Plead Not Guilty in Murder-for-Hire Case
CRESCO, Iowa (AP) - The lawyer for another suspect in a northern Iowa murder-for-hire case says his client will plead not guilty.
Nathan Moonen is representing 35-year-old Daniel Padgett, who is charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Moonen said Wednesday that Padgett's plea will be entered at a hearing on Monday. A trial date hasn't been set.
Thirty-two-year Malissa Farmer, of Cresco, also has pleaded not guilty. Authorities say Farmer stole a gun that she gave to Padgett so he could kill Farmer's ex-husband.
Farmer's trial is scheduled to begin April 24.
