More Charges Against 2 Iowa Bank Robbery Suspects
FAYETTE, Iowa (AP) - More charges have been filed against two men accused of shooting two law enforcement officers during a high-speed chase after a bank robbery in northeast Iowa.
Jeremiah Munford, of New Hampton, and William Clayton, of Osage, were captured Tuesday night near Frederika hours after the holdup at Maynard Savings Bank in Maynard and the gun battle that followed.
Authorities say they fired shots at six police officers during the chase, wounding Sumner Police Chief Dennis Cain and Iowa State Trooper Mark Domino.
Munford and Clayton face attempted murder and terrorism charges in Bremer County, where they were captured.
Fayette County has now filed multiple charges against them for the bank robbery in Maynard. A telephone call to the public defender's office, which represents both men, wasn't returned Friday.
