More Local Red Cross Heading East

(ABC 6 News) -- Four more southern Minnesota American Red Cross volunteers have been deployed to the east coast to help with the aftermath of Sandy. That brings southern Minnesota's total to 14.

Volunteers are going to New Jersey and New York. Wednesday night, over 7,000 people spent the night in 115 Red Cross shelters in 9 states.

Don Hrdina of Rochester will be helping with disaster mental health, providing crisis intervention, mental health screening and assessment and emotional care and support.

Diane Hodge of Rochester will be volunteering as a supervisor in a Red Cross shelter.

Tom Lee of Winona will work as a supervisor in government relations. He will be coordinating Red Cross services with local, state and federal government partners and agencies to help use available resources as efficiently as possible.

John Davidson of Canby will provide assistance in health services.
