(ABC 6 News) - ABC 6 News was awarded the 2012 Media Star Award at the Minnesota Department of Transportation's Toward Zero Deaths conference in Bloomington Monday afternoon.
The award was presented to ABC 6 News for its support and commitment to traffic safety through in-depth coverage around traffic safety issues and the Toward Zero Deaths program itself.
News Director David Springer accepted the award on behalf of the station while praising the hard work of MNDOT's District 6 Public Affairs coordinators, Kristin Kammueller and Kristine Hernandez, who work closely with ABC 6 News.
Past winners of the award include Trish Van Pilsum, an investigative reporter with FOX-9 News, The Star Tribune and the Minnesota News Network.
