Email to a FriendCWD Testing for Youth Deer Hunting Season
(ABC 6 News) -- The youth deer hunting season begins tomorrow and all deer taken in part of our area must be checked for chronic wasting disease.
Any deer taken from Permit Area 602 must be registered for the disease. Registration sites include Neptune Bar and Grill in Zumbro Falls, Archery Headquarters in Rochester, Hardware Hank in Kasson, and the Greenway Co-op in Pine Island.
At these sites the deer's head must be deposited in an outside box. Hunters must also fill out an information form. The carcass of a deer must remain in area 602 until a negative test result is reported.
CWD results will be available online at www.mndnr.gov/cwd next week.
Youth Deer season goes from Thursday October 18th until Sunday October 21st.
