Man Charged in Child Stabbing

(ABC 6 News) -- Formal charges are now filed against a Rochester man accused of stabbing and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
It's a case we've been following all week and Thursday we've learned new information as the 31-year-old suspect appeared in court. Dillon Caudill remains behind bars, now charged with four felonies. They include 3 different counts of assault and one count of criminal sexual conduct. The charges are all related to the attack on a 12-year-old girl and her mother, Caudill's girlfriend.
Investigators say Caudill admits being high on meth when he went to the apartment early Tuesday morning. He's accused of taking pictures of the 12-year-old girl before sexually assaulting her. The child was stabbed with a pair of scissors during the attack.
"If she was not treated, the nature of her injuries could've resulted in death. The allegations are that she was stabbed in the chest causing her lung to collapse and blood to collect around her heart," said Chief Deputy Jim Martinson with the Olmsted County Attorney's Office.
Caudill does have a criminal history. He was actually on parole after spending a year in prison for a home invasion in Colorado. As for the girl, she is recovering, last listed in stable condition at Saint Marys.
